Class 4
Welcome to the page for class 4.
Our class is a mixed year class with both year 5 and year 6 pupils. The class is taught by Mrs Richardson and each morning we have Miss Foster, our teaching assistant, to help support the children’s learning. Miss Stewart covers the class on a Monday afternoon for Mrs Richardson’s planning and assessment time. Please see below the class timetable, this will be amended each half term dependent on PE days. Below, you will also find our topic web for this Autumn term which gives an overview of the learning that will take place in class 4 up until Christmas.

Autumn Term Adventure!
This term in class 4 we are taking a road trip through the USA! We have begun by delving into the life of the Maya in history; learning how to weave just like the Maya did and turning it into art inspired by Anni Alber; reading Journey to the River Sea and creating some writing around the Amazon Rainforest; and much more!
Also, as part of our weekly PE, we are very lucky to be the first class to have weekly visits to Nateby Gymnastics club which the children always enjoy – especially when we get to try out the equipment!
Summer Term Fun!
During the summer term we based our learning all around the topic of ‘Our Great Britain’. We looked at: foods across the UK in DT; landscapes of our local area in Art; the history of Greenhalgh Castle in History; and the works of William Shakespeare in English.
The summer term is always a busy one and the children all enjoyed many day trips, overnight stays and much more. We had trips to Towerwood for the day for year 5, and a wonderful overnight stay in London for our year 6. We spent many hours rehearsing for the Y6 Leavers’ play which was a hit! What’s on the Gigglebox definitely had us giggling, but there were many tears shed too as we said a final goodbye to our fantastic year 6 pupils! It really was a jam-packed, fun-filled term!
Spring Term was a busy one!
Over the Spring term, we have covered so much learning around the topic of ‘The Great Study of China’ where the class have delved into the world of The Shang Dynasty, starting the term with a visit from One Day Creative Ltd who immersed us in the life of The Shang Dynasty and also delivered a Chinese Ribbon Dance class.
Looking at many aspects of China, the children have finished the term with a wealth of knowledge from China today, stories from China, the history of China and Chinese art just to name a few.
Autumn Term Fun!
Our Autumn topic based around ‘Law Breakers’ was a huge success and the children were immersed into the history of crime and punishment though Topic, Art, English and more. We had a crime scene in the classroom, created our own outlaws, made a collaborative piece of graffiti art (which can be found on display in our school hall), enjoyed a day in an escape room, and much more!
