Sport at Nateby
Pop-up Pool
Each year, here at Nateby we have a heated, pop-up pool come for 2 weeks in the spring term. Each year group swims daily allowing the children to build skills and confidence in the water. The pool comes with a trained lifeguard and swim teacher to help the children progress.
Girls Football
Girls football has taken off at Nateby! Mrs Palmer established a girls only football league when she noticed the growing interest in girls football and the lack of facilities to support this. We are now running our own friendly league and have regular training practice at GCA on Friday evenings throughout the spring and summer terms. This opportunity we created also supports other local schools and has given over 200 girls in the area the chance to participate. Many young girls are now progressing into grassroot teams and enjoying the sport.
High 5 Netball League
Nateby has now taken the lead in High 5 Netball too! We have created a local High 5 league which meets across the Autumn and Spring terms encouraging more schools to get involved and train their High 5 teams.
Safer Cycling
Every two years our year 5 and year 6 pupils take part in Safer Cycling classes. This helps them to be much more confident and, of course, safer on the roads.
Garstang Community Academy Partnership
Here at Nateby, we work with our local high school to develop the sporting opportunities for our pupils. Throughout the year, the high school hold events in a range of different sports and invites many local primary schools to take part. Some of the events available to us are: handball, glo-dodgeball, table tennis, indoor athletics, tag rugby, rounders and many more. This promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, competitiveness and resilience.
